Installation Notes
Cluster Box Units are regulated by the USPS, so there are a few important steps and requirements before installation:
-
USPS Approval (Required Before Ordering)
-
Your local postmaster or USPS growth manager must approve the location of your new CBU before it’s installed.
-
We strongly recommend getting this approval before placing your order. All CBU sales are final — there are no refunds.
-
-
Our Process When You Order Installation from Us
-
Your mailbox will ship directly to your address.
-
Once it ships, we’ll contact you to schedule the installation date.
-
After installation, you’ll need to coordinate with your local post office to install the USPS master lock and officially activate the unit for service.
-
-
Concrete Base Requirements
-
The CBU pedestal must be anchored to a solid, level concrete pad.
-
The pad must be poured and fully cured before installation.
-
There are two anchoring options:
-
Expansion wedge anchors: can be installed on new or existing slabs.
-
J-bolts: installed at the time new concrete is poured, for maximum strength.
-
-
-
Removal of Existing Units
-
We can remove old CBUs for an additional cost.
-
Please note: removal does not include offsite disposal. We do not offer haul-away services. If you need haul-away or disposal, you’ll need to arrange that with a separate service.
-
-
Disclaimers
-
Customers are responsible for securing USPS location approval before ordering.
-
Concrete prep must be completed and ready before our installer arrives.
-
If the site isn’t properly prepared at the scheduled installation time, additional trip or rescheduling fees may apply.
